CHAMBER SHOWS APPRECIATION FOR EDUCATORS AND STAFF
Asks Businesses to Join in Appreciation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE— July 22, 2010 — The Hopkinsville-Christian County Chamber of Commerce is proud to help sponsor the 13th annual Teacher Appreciation Breakfast and 2nd annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon. The events will take place on Monday, August 9 at the James E. Bruce Convention Center and are designed to show appreciation for those who work in our local public and private schools.
“We believe that educators are the heart of the educational process,” said Carter Hendricks, president and CEO of the Hopkinsville-Christian County Chamber of Commerce. “The success of our educational system is critical to the business community and the quality of life in Hopkinsville-Christian County. That’s why it is our privilege to sponsor these events and to ask businesses throughout the community to do the same.”
Honored at the events will be teachers and support staff from Christian County Public School System, Heritage Christian Academy, Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School, University Heights Academy, Hopkinsville Community College, and Murray State University-Hopkinsville Campus.
The keynote speaker for the day is Jamie Vollmer, author of Schools Cannot Do It Alone: Building Public Support for America’s Public Schools. Vollmer was one of the speakers at the 2009 Education Summit. He is a former businessman and attorney who now works to strengthen community support for public schools and build professional pride among America’s educators. His uplifting, intelligent and funny presentations entertain and energize audiences.
Businesses that sponsor the events will receive a free copy of Vollmer’s book and be invited to an afternoon reception with Vollmer. In addition, two representatives from each sponsoring company will be invited to attend the breakfast and lunch events.
New to the event this year will be the presentation of awards honoring the Teacher of the Year and the Staff Person of the Year. The Chamber is proud to contribute prize money for these awards to honor the outstanding contributions of each recipient.
