Partners in Education Survey Now Online

Partners in Education (PiE) is a program of the Hopkinsville-Christian County Chamber of Commerce and the Christian County Public Schools. The focus of the program is to pair businesses and organizations with each school to support and encourage student achievement goals. A kick-off event will be held at the Convention Center on Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 4:30 p.m. At the event you will learn about successful partnerships and ways to get involved. If you are ready to participate in the Partners in Education program, please complete a brief online survey so that we may match you with an appropriate school partner to meet your needs. With questions, contact Cammie Evans at 270-885-9096 or cevans@hopkinsvillechamber.com.

Our Latest Achievements

The Workforce/Education Development Partnership Committee (WEDPC) exists to accomplish Goal I of the Community Vision Plan – Develop a Competitive, Fully-Inclusive Workforce.

The WEDPC is comprised of representatives from various business sectors, heads of our educational institutions, workforce entities, government, and citizens with a great passion for education and workforce issues in our community.

Realizing that our public education system is the foundation of our community, the WEDPC works diligently with the Christian County Public Schools in their efforts to raise the level of student achievement. WEDPC works also with our institutions of higher learning to ensure that our local offerings meet the demands of local employers.

The Workforce/Education Development Partnership Committee addresses the local workforce needs from the perspective of the unemployed, underemployed and hidden workforce as well. In order for Goal I to be accomplished, all barriers to employment must be addressed, whether they are perception or reality. The WEDPC has found that Christian County has a vast number of resources to assist those seeking to raise the level of their skills and to secure local employment. Communication of these services to all of those in need is vital to the growth and well-being of the community.

The Workforce/Education Development Partnership Committee serves as the link from the business community to the education community.

Goal I sub-committees working to implement action items for each of the WEDPC strategies include:

  • Student Achievement (see below)
  • Linking the Classroom to the Real World
  • Early Identification of Student Aptitudes
  • Christian County Public Schools Community Involvement and Communication
  • Effective Program Alignment at Hopkinsville Community College
  • Effective Program Alignment at Murray State University-Hopkinsville
  • Address Long-Term Needs of the Unemployed and Under-Employed

For more information about the Workforce/Education Development Partnership Committee, contact the Chamber at 270-885-9096.
